Anyone know of a TOTALLY FREE downloadable anti virus program I could get online?

My computer decided to kick off the end of the year by picking up something that is making it act whacky. My AV (McAfee) is logging and blocking something called winupdate86 from creating files. Now it seems that every 20 minutes there is a pop up that states that Windows will download a anti spyware program. This is the first time that this has happened to me, so I don't know how to handle it. I don't even know if this is spyware, malware, adware or trojan. Even my AV is logging all this it is still does not seem to see this as a problem. So if you could help by answering some questions I would greatly appreciate it. 1. My computer has two hard drives. The AV is logging and blocking files in the first hard drive. Is the second hard drive infected? 2. What free programs are out there to help remove this from my computer? 3. My friend had an executable file that kept trying to log onto the internet. He fixed it by changing the .exe in the file to a .txt. If I know what files are causing the problem can I do the same thing, without harming my computer? 4. Can I take both hard drives, place them in external hard drive enclosures and have a friend with a clean computer scan them to find and remove the problem? 5. Could AVG be downloaded onto a thumb drive and then used to scan my computer? 6. Would it be possible to move files from the second hard drive to an external hard drive without infecting anything? 7. All my friends have Vista or Windows 7. I used Windows XP. If they decided to scan my computer would this cause a conflict with my drives. That is it for now. I am kind paranoid about downloading and installing anything right now. If you can answer all the questions and give me any direction I would greatly appreciate it. Every time I try to log on to that site, I get redirected to Google (and when I try to look up my wish list, it's like my browser automatically replaces "metawishlist" with "google" and gives me a B.S. "not found" message). Did metawishlist go down, or is there some spyware/virus causing this? Thanks!

ok i usually get the "internet explorer cannot display this webpage" if there's something wrong with a site or my connection. but lately, i've been getting this page and part of the address is "mybrowserbar.com" and i get it A LOT! even on sites i regularly visit or in pages of a site. is it a virus? malware? how can i make it stop?

I renewed my trend micro on september this year, b/c I've had it for so long and it nevergave me problems. My computer has detendted so many viruses, and it crashed on me. I had the blue screen for so long, I had to reset it and b/c i had no hard drive I lost all my work. I have been trying to get in touch with trend micro but I can't find a phone that will work. What can I do, I paid worth a year, and already uninstalled it on november, and evr since my computer works way better. I want my refund but I cant seem to get in touch with anyone.

i have a Toshiba terca 8200 laptop and i have a wine32.worm netsky virus on my laptop and it turned off by its self while i was trying to remove it.um i tried turning it back on and it dosent boot up.i tried the f8 button (advanced options)and i press default option and it just goes to the blank black screen i tried to go to safe mode it had the little words coming down and then it stops after about 3 secs and just freezes.?i don't know whats going on but i need to fix it asap and i dont have a boot up cd i didn't back nothing up.i even tried to unplug the cord and the battery and hold down power button for 10sec and still dosent work i tried everything nothings works!!please please please help,its frustrating me!!

Well, considering more than half the web is porn sites... and almost all porn sites have a virus, then yes, im going to geuss the website has a virus, now u r referring to a specific virus, so, this gets complicated, bc, that means u rnt reffering to a porn site, now, if u want, u can check the alexa ranking, or something similiar, or the mcafee online scan thing, that willt ell u everything about the website, including spamming email, and also hoaxes, virus, spam ware... ad ware mal ware crap, root kits ok? good luck on ur web travels, xoxo justin <3
